Baseline Data Strategy

The goals of the Baseline Data Strategy are:

1. To describe the existing burden of diabetes and chronic disease risk and burden in Mississauga and Peel Region.
2. To identify key health care, social, and regional disparities in risk factors, access to resources, and health outcomes to help direct interventions.
3. To understand the relationship between social, cultural, and environmental factors, health behaviours, and chronic disease risk and burden.

The BDS consists of three research streams that are each focused on a topic related to diabetes and chronic disease burden. The streams are:

• Diabetes Health Services and Quality of Care
• Diabetes Incidence and Risk Factors
• Health and the Built Environment
