Eugene Chiappetta is an undergraduate student studying Neuroscience at UTSG. His research focuses on adapting the Anderson framework to prioritize primary care access for the early detection and prevention of type 2 diabetes. His work highlights the importance of early detection, especially for individuals who lack access to primary care, as they are at a higher risk of undiagnosed or delayed diagnoses. The adapted framework emphasizes the interplay between individual, social, and environmental determinants of health, guiding efforts to identify high-risk populations and tailor strategies to better serve equity-deserving communities. Ultimately, this project aims to inform policymakers on improving diabetes screening and prevention efforts in underserved areas.
