Monique Munroe

Monique Munroe is a second-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) student at the Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing. Through the Network for Healthy Populations (NHP) Summer Research and Training Program, Monique contributed to a project that focuses on type 2 diabetes (T2D) prevention among young adults (ages 18-30) in Peel Region. Based upon a mixed-methods and community-based participatory approach, this project aims to conceptualize young adults’ needs, barriers, and accessibility to physical activity and healthy eating resources. Individuals from the University of Toronto Mississauga, Humber College, and Sheridan College will be recruited to share their experiences through surveys and focus groups. Monique is hopeful that this project will educate young adults and communities on T2D prevention through healthy eating and physical activity measures.
