Launch of the 2025 NHP Summer Research and Training Program
Applications to the 2025 program are now open! The deadline to apply to all positions is January 24, 2025.
The Network for Healthy Populations is dedicated to training and preparing the next generation of health leaders to address the rising risk and burden of diabetes and related cardiometabolic conditions.
The NHP is launching the 2025 Summer Research and Training Program for undergraduate, medical/health professional students, and graduate students currently registered at the University of Toronto. In doing so, we will support research projects that are in alignment with the NHP’s core, vision, objectives and core mission.
Program Objectives:
Gain research experience, knowledge, and skills to prepare for future career goals
Participate in education and professional development opportunities available via the Network and across UofT campuses
Network with mentors and experts from the field and seek guidance and mentorship on career goals
Connect with other trainees who are interested in reducing social inequities and addressing the root cause of diabetes and/or related cardiometabolic conditions
Who should apply:
Applicants who are:
Currently enrolled in a University of Toronto program (until August 31, 2025), as an undergraduate, medical school/health professional student or non-thesis graduate student
Interested in gaining research experience, knowledge and skills to prepare for careers that aim to reduce the risk and burden of diabetes and related cardiometabolic
Interested in networking with peers, mentors, and subject matter experts
Legally able to work in Canada
Available to participate full-time (36.25 hours/week) from May 5 – August 22, 2025 (MPH students) or June 2 – August 22, 2025 (MD/undergraduate students)
Able to work in-person and virtually, as needed (research teams are based in Toronto and Mississauga)
Able to meet in-person weekly (dates and times TBD) for networking, mentorship, and knowledge exchange opportunities
Please note, that students selected into the NHP Summer Research and Training Program cannot participate in other summer training programs
