Jessica Chiang is a Master of Public Health student in the Family and Community Medicine stream at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. This summer she worked on a project that explored how to enhance a sense of belonging in relation to physical activity through children and youth in the Mississauga Valleys. The study aims to use the findings to support sustained and joyful physical activity within diverse communities. The study utilized photovoice, a qualitative participatory arts-based methodology, emphasizing community engagement and co-design. The themes created by the study participants through the photovoice workshops informed community recommendations. She had the opportunity to be involved in analysis, community event planning and knowledge dissemination in the form of creating a community report.
