Jin Lin is a Master of Public Health student in Epidemiology who conducted her practicum research at the Population Health Analytics Laboratory at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. Using the validated Premature Mortality Population Risk Tool (PreMPoRT) and data from the 2017–2018 Canadian Community Health Survey, her project estimated five-year premature mortality risk among Canadians with diabetes. This involved examining inequities across socioeconomic and behavioral determinants in the diabetic population and modeling intervention scenarios to assess the impact of both population-wide and targeted strategies on premature mortality risk among individuals with diabetes. The team is currently finalizing a draft of the manuscript for submission to a peer-reviewed journal.
