Soliana Lijiam

Soliana Lijiam is an MD candidate at the University of Toronto, St. George, with a background in Health Studies and Human Biology. Through the NHP Summer Program, she worked with the non-profit organization Nutrition and Food Literacy Canada (NFLC). Her project focused on addressing gaps in culturally relevant nutrition education within Ontario schools. Soliana's contributions included supporting interview recruitment with parents and community partners, co-developing a lesson plan for students to assess local food access using ArcGIS mapping, and creating knowledge translation tools such as blogs and social media content to disseminate NFLC's work. These objectives are part of a larger initiative to equip students with the skills to make informed health decisions, understand food affordability and access, and advocate for change within their communities.
